Crazy Things to do with Coconut

Unrefined coconut oil is a living food and one of the healthiest sources of fat mother nature has to offer.  Medium chain fatty acids  plus the power of Lauric Acid,  make it especially unique. It’s converted to energy through the liver instead of being stored as fat like refined oils. Its antimicrobial properties help fight infections as well as to restore proper pH inside and outside the body.

Coconut water is the probiotic rich liquid offering the same electrolyte balance as human blood plasma. In fact, the water has served in times of war as blood transfusions for wounded soldiers. It is so hydrating, it is the only beverage I recommend for intense exercise other than water.

Coconut milk is made when fresh grated coconut is squeezed through cheese cloth. Oftentimes, the flesh is soaked in warm water for a second or third press. Coconut milk’s viscosity can vary. Avoid cans, as many brands add chemical stabilizers. Opt instead for what can be found in the carton. Unsweetened coconut milk is a great substitute for milk and other diary products.

And don’t forget about coconut meat. It’s a balancing snack choice with lots of protein.  If you buy shredded coconut always try to select unsweetened coconut. Coconut is a tropical food, which means it comes with plenty of sugar naturally.
